This distinct site featured a 1 metre drop from the ground floor rooms to the back ground level, requiring a unique approach to safely managing the transition whilst maintaining play opportunities using sandpits, decking, waterplay, slides. This was coupled with a first floor play area and a long, feature entrance walkway with detailed planting & arbors that will provide colour and texture year-round.
Any site that has a slope, drop off or steep set down is an opportunity to create a unique and distinct playspace that takes advantage of what could be considered ‘tricky’.
With an emphasis on play and plant materials, our goal is to create diverse spaces that inform a sense of belonging as they grow and change over time
