PLAY / Diamond Creek Regional Playspace

Award-winning 1 hectare public playspace on the edge of the Diamond Creek. Construction by Ace Contractors, bulk of equipment supplied by Richter Spielgeräte, unique equipment designed by Stratis & constructed by Custom Build.

Nillumbik council were looking for a gold mining theme, which prompted the mining poppet tower as a central feature of the parkour run. Also includes paths from carpark to the tram cafe up the hill out of the flood zone, using existing trees to create a nature play area, links to the existing Diamond Creek Trail and a labyrinth for contemplation, secluded from the main play area.

More than just play equipment, the success of these spaces is in the details: natural features, site lines, materials – what happens between these features determines how these spaces all link together.

With an emphasis on play and plant materials, our goal is to create diverse spaces that inform a sense of belonging as they grow and change over time
